Prior to founding Aspen Heights in 2006, Mr. Henry owned and operated a residential development and construction company in Northwest Arkansas. In 2016, he won the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year Central Texas Award.
Russ Murphy
Chief Operating Officer

Since the company’s founding, Mr. Murphy has been committed to driving innovation and corporate culture that has resulted in the successful development, financing, and construction of over $1.7 billion worth of student housing and multifamily real estate in projects nationwide. Mr. Murphy has been in senior level positions for over fifteen years and has spent the past ten years focusing on real estate development, construction and acquisitions. His diverse background consists of Executive level positions as well as sitting on multiple boards. Russ has started as well as invested in multiple nonprofits, held consulting positions with small to mid-size companies. Russ has been involved in acquiring small businesses and invests in startups. He has spent time working with companies such as Tyson Foods, JB Hunt, Alternative Design Mfg. and Simmons Foods, Inc. His passion for our non-profit, Aspen Heights Awake, inspired him to take on the leadership of Chairman of the Board. Russ earned his B.S.B.A. in Management and Human Resource Management from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and is certified as a Professional in Human Resources.
Dan Fuchs
Chief Investment Officer
Read MoreDan Fuchs joined Aspen Heights Partners in 2008 as a Senior Associate in Finance, where he rapidly rose to the rank of Chief Financial Officer, and currently serves as AHP’s Chief Investment Officer. His primary responsibilities include financial strategy, underwriting, and providing leadership to the Finance and Accounting teams. Mr. Fuchs is known for his sharp and strategic financial mind, calm leadership style, and rare command of both the big picture and the details. Prior to joining Aspen Heights Partners, Mr. Fuchs was a Senior Associate at RCLCO, a strategic real estate advisory firm based in Washington, DC. Before his position at RCLCO, Mr. Fuchs was the Research Manager responsible for covering the Washington, DC and Baltimore, MD metro areas for the real estate research firm Hanley Wood Market Intelligence.
David Helfrich
President, Development
Read MoreAs Division President East of Aspen Heights, David Helfrich has the responsibility for leading a team in sourcing and executing new student housing and multifamily development projects primarily east of the Mississippi River. Mr. Helfrich has over 20 years of multifamily/student housing development and construction experience and has managed the sourcing, development, and construction of over 14,910 student housings beds with a total capitalization of $602 million. From 1998 to 2018, Mr. Helfrich served as Founder/CEO of CampusWorks Development a nationally recognized leader in construction and development of purpose-built student housing. David graduated from Michigan State University with a B.A. in Business Administration. He is a member of the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation by the CCIM Institute and is a current member of the National Multifamily Housing Council. David holds a General Contractors License in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, Tennessee, and Florida.
Todd Gaines
Division President, West
Read MoreAs Division President West for Aspen Heights, Todd Gaines oversees and manages all aspects of development, including market research and selection, site acquisition, entitlement, design, and construction within the central and western markets. Prior to joining Aspen Heights, Gaines was the Houston and Central Texas City Director for Wood Partners, where he was actively involved in the development, design, and financing of more than 2,500 units valued in excess of $400 million.
Prior to joining Wood Partners, Gaines was an attorney with Houston-based Dabney & Pappas, where he focused on real estate litigation in addition to a broad range of civil matters.
Gaines holds an MBA from The University of Texas at Austin’s McCombs School of Business; a J.D. from South Texas College of Law, where he was a member of Law Review; and a bachelor’s degree from Washington and Lee University. He serves as a member of the Advisory Council of the Real Estate Finance and Investment Center at the University of Texas at Austin’s McCombs School of Business, and is also an active member of the Real Estate Council of Austin and ULI -Austin.
Mike Riley
Executive VP of Construction
Read MoreMike Riley joined Aspen Heights Partners in 2013. He has 40 years of experience managing multi-family and commercial construction projects representing more than $10 billion in investment. He has experienced every facet of construction management, from field engineer to superintendent all the way to business leader. Mr. Riley is familiar with all aspects of development having delivered timely, high quality, and on-or-under budget completion of dozens of large-scale projects. Mr. Riley spent most of his career in Houston, Texas with Century Development, then led the Greystar Development and Construction business for 10 years. He is an exceptional leader; his department consistently achieves the highest scores in our annual employee engagement survey.
T.C. Selman
Vice President
Read MoreT.C. Selman joined Aspen Heights after a 40-year professional career in development, design and construction, and his projects span the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico, & Europe. Focus markets have included multifamily, single family, student housing, corporate build to suit, sports, research, healthcare and manufacturing. Mr. Selman was Previously Group Vice President for SulzerMedica (Switzerland / U.S.}, responsible for all real estate, design and construction for the company’s global projects. He then served as Pre-Construction design manager for Austin Commercial (Dallas/Austin/Houston) responsible for early design collaboration with owners, architects, engineers and contractor. His work in Austin includes the W Hotel, Austin City Limits, Tower Amphitheater, Circuit of Americas, AMD Lone Star, and Palisades West. Mr. Selman is a graduate from the University of Texas with a Degree in Architecture.
Ty Wenglar
VP of Construction
Read MoreAs Vice President of Construction for Aspen Heights, Ty Wenglar is responsible for managing the strategic relationships between Development, Pre-Construction, and Operations, as well as being collaboratively responsible for all aspects of construction operations for multiple projects, including constructability, budgeting, contracting, staffing and construction management.
Having spent over 20 years in the construction industry, Ty has focused his career within the Multi-Family construction sector with successful developer/builder companies like the Aspen, The Bomasada Group and Hanover Company where he built an exemplary track record of bringing in multimillion-dollar projects on time and on, or under budget.
Ty also spent almost 10 years in the Army Reserve and National Guard including a deployment to Afghanistan as a combat medic prior to working at Aspen Heights as well as helping in the aftermath of 2017’s Hurricane Harvey.
Ty holds an MBA from Houston Baptist University, a Bachelors degree in Construction Science from Texas A&M University and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership at Johnson University in Knoxville, TN.
Greg Bowers

Prior to joining the company, Greg began his career at Fairfield Residential and spent ten years in Property Accounting — initially as a Property Accountant before working his way up to Property Accounting Manager. Always looking for ways to broaden his knowledge and experience, Greg spent his last seven years at Fairfield working with the Construction and Development teams as Assistant Controller of Construction Accounting. Greg was promoted to Vice President of Accounting in 2018 and brings over twenty years of real estate experience to the role. He earned his B.B.A. in Accounting from the University of Texas at Arlington.
Demi Sterling-Kinney
Executive VP of Operations

She oversees the internal creative agency as well as the corporate property management leadership team, and 300+ site team employees across the nation.
Demi joined Aspen Heights in 2014 bringing more than 15 years of experience in the student housing and multifamily industry. Her background includes new development, repositioning acquisitions, optimizing stabilized portfolios, and building strategic property management platforms. After graduating from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, she worked with industry leaders such as Fairfield Residential, Sterling University Housing, CWS Capital Partners, and American Campus Communities where she held a number of roles including Director of Education and Marketing Services, Regional Operations Director, Director of Student Housing, and Director of Operations.
Lynnette Mouton
VP of Business Process

Her efforts span across all departments within the organization where she works closely with executive leaders to develop solutions for organizational issues and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
Lynnette’s career brought her to Aspen Heights in 2014. With a career spanning over 15 years in both the student housing and multifamily industries, her experience has given her a clear line of sight to understand the organizational structure in development, property management, and corporate support – an expertise which is key to effective process implementation. Lynnette holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Texas at Austin.

Scot Sellers
Read MoreMr. Sellers has been Chief Executive Officer of Archstone-Smith Trust, one of the world’s largest apartment companies since 1997. He has served several roles such as Chairman and Trustee, Independent Director, and Chief Investment Officer for many companies and trusts throughout his tenure, including The Howard Hughes Corporation and the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts. During his 29-year career in the apartment business, he has been responsible for the development, acquisition and operation of over $40 billion of apartment communities in over 50 different cities across the United States. Mr. Sellers is a member of the Executive Committee of the National Multi-Housing Council. He was named as 2005 Entrepreneur of the Year in real estate for the Rocky Mountain Region by Ernst & Young. Mr. Sellers received his M.B.A. from Stanford University Graduate School of Business and a B.S. from Lewis and Clark College.
Robert Gifford
Read MoreMr. Gifford was the President and Chief Executive Officer of AIG Global Real Estate from 2009 through 2016 and has broad experience in real estate investments and major development projects across various market sectors. Mr. Gifford joined the company one year after the U.S. Government took an equity interest in AIG. In this role, Mr. Gifford executed on both the wind-down of $20 billion of legacy real estate assets and the subsequent strategic rebuilding of the company’s real estate investment platform, committing over $2.5 billion of equity to $7.5 billion of new real estate projects. Prior to joining AIG Global Real Estate, Mr. Gifford was a Principal with AEW Capital Management, L.P. (AEW) where he led a team in creating and implementing an opportunistic investment strategy targeting value-add real estate acquisitions and development. Currently, Mr. Gifford serves as a Director of Lehman Brothers Holding Inc. and a Director of Retail Properties of America (NYSE:RPAI). He is also an active member of the Urban Land Institute where he formerly served as Council Vice-Chair. Mr. Gifford received his Master’s Degree in Public and Private Management from Yale School of Management and his B.A. from Dartmouth College.
